DAY 1
NO Passport Needed for this summertime getaway to Niagara Falls, NY. You will depart PA this morning for Niagara Falls with meal and rest stops as needed along the way. Upon arrival in Niagara Falls, you check in to your host hotel the Holiday Inn Niagara Falls-Scenic Downtown (716-285-2521) for a three-night stay. The hotel features an indoor pool, fitness center, business center and complimentary Wi-Fi, coin-operated guest laundry, onsite restaurant and bar, and state-of-the-art arcade. Guest rooms amenities include a coffee maker and accompaniments, hair dryer and complimentary Wi-Fi. Dinner is on your own tonight.
DAY 2
Wake to breakfast included at the hotel before you board the motorcoach and depart for Goat Island which is located between the American Falls and the Horseshoe Falls. Upon arrival, you have admission included for the Cave of the Winds and the Observation Tower. Come closer to the Falls than you ever thought possible. Ride an elevator deep into the Niagara Gorge, and then receive a poncho and special footwear to follow a tour guide over a series of wooden walkways to the famous "Hurricane Deck". You will stand at a railing that is a mere 20 feet from the waters of the Bridal Veil Falls, the smallest of three Falls in Niagara, to witness the rushing waters and feel the spray of the waters from the thunderous Falls head-on. The Observation Tower provides the only panoramic view of all three Niagara Falls, including the American Falls. Next, admission is included for the Maid of the Mist boat cruise that takes you past the American and Bridal Veil Falls and into the basin of the magnificent Canadian Horseshoe Falls. Water rushes all around as you soak in the excitement and explore the roar of the Falls. The water falls from a height of 167 feet at a rate of 600,000 U.S. gallons per second from the Horseshoe Falls. You will receive a poncho to wear during your cruise. After your heart-pounding, one-of-a-kind experience, you will have free time for lunch on your own and at your expense in the area. Also included in your day is a hop-on/hop-off privileges for a narrated trolley ride around Goat Island. Enjoy an overview of the park along with historical anecdotes and fun facts from your guide. The group will gather together this evening for dinner included at a local restaurant.
B, DDAY 3
Breakfast is included this morning before you depart the hotel for admission to the Herschell Carousel Factory Museum. The museum preserves the history and artistry of carousels and music boxes. Within the factory you will find what is most likely the first machine shipped from the Allan Herschell Company factory in March 1916. It took 3 U-Haul trucks and a trip to London, Ontario to bring it to the factory in 1982. Before you depart the museum, you have the opportunity to experience a carousel ride. Afterwards, you travel to the historic village of Lewiston for lunch on your own and at your expense. Lewiston is referred to as the birthplace of Niagara Falls because the falls began developing 12,000 years ago at the Niagara Gorge, which begins in Lewiston. Next, admission is included at the Niagara Power Vista for an exciting and interactive exhibit designed to let you experience the power of Niagara Falls. Understand electricity through the eyes of pioneers like Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison and see how the massive Robert Moses Dam plays a role in providing power. Have the chance to design your own dam, operate a power grid during a storm, walk through a turbine, and become immersed in a state-of-the-art, 4-D virtual ride that takes you plummeting from the sky and into the Niagara River. Following your visit, you return to the hotel for the remainder of the day. At this time if you have chosen to pay for the optional Whirlpool Jet Boat Ride, you will board the coach and travel to the dock for your experience. (Note: This is an optional tour add-on and an additional fee of $70 per adult and $42 per child applies and must be booked and paid in full at least 30 days in advance of the trip's departure.) Ready, Set, Jet! You can choose to get wet or stay dry on your 45-minute adventure into the Niagara Gorge and through the Devil's Hole Rapids. Your fully guided adventure features an exhilarating ride coupled with narration highlighting the Niagara River's history, scenery and geography. The fun really begins when your highly trained staff takes you up to the famous Niagara Whirlpool and through the Class 5 'Devil's Hole' rapids delivering a fun and memorable ride. After the ride, you return to the hotel for the remainder of the night. Dinner is on your own and at your expense tonight.
BDAY 4
Once again, breakfast is included at the hotel before you check out and depart for Lockport, NY for a Canal Cruise. Your fun and informative cruise will take you past five of the original 1800's locks. Three million gallons of water fill Locks 34 & 35, the only double set on the Erie Canal, and raise the boat 50 feet. You'll pass under Lockport's "Upside Down Bridge," Lockport's "Big Bridge" (the widest bridge in the U.S. at 399 feet wide, through the deep rock cut and under lift bridges. Once back on land, lunch is included canal side before you depart for home. Meal and rest stops will be made along the way.
