DAY 1
Embark on a fascinating journey with Wolf's that uncovers some of the most intriguing stories in the South. Following meal and rest stops at your expense along the way, you arrive in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia for an overnight stay at the Greenbrier Resort (855-453-4858), a prestigious National Historic Landmark with a history that runs as deep as the beauty of its backdrop. A grand Georgian-and Colonial-Revival-style property, the Greenbrier is known for its sweeping staircases, manicured gardens, and lavish Dorothy Draper décor. While here, you may have time to enjoy the indoor pool, workout in the fitness center, or try your luck in the Casino Club (Proper Attire Required - see below for Casino Attire details) featuring table games and slot machines. Guest rooms feature a coffeemaker, hairdryer, cozy robes and slippers, as well as complimentary Wi-Fi welcome visitors for a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Enjoy dinner included in the Forum Restaurant located at the Greenbrier. (***Please Note: Resort Attire is required - collared sport shirts, sweaters, jackets, dress slacks, walking shorts and well-kept, dark denim is acceptable. Men's hats and baseball caps are not permitted.***) Following dinner, the remainder of the evening is yours to relax and unwind.
DDAY 2
Begin your morning with a delicious breakfast included at the hotel. Guests are asked to adhere to the proper daytime attire at the Greenbrier which is "resort casual" including collared sport shirts, sweaters, jackets, dress slacks, walking shorts and well-kept, dark denim is acceptable. Following breakfast, admission is included to experience the Greenbrier's "Secret Bunker Tour". Deep in the mountainside beneath the West Virginia Wing is an emergency Cold War fallout shelter that was once a top-secret U.S. government relocation facility for Congress. Relive a legendary piece of the Greenbrier history with a 90-minute behind the scenes walking tour through of a fascinating period in history. *No cameras, electronic equipment or cell phones are permitted. Other restrictions may apply. (The walking tour is 90-minutes long and guests should wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk a distance of 1 mile). After your tour, you board the motorcoach and depart for Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and the Great Smoky Mountains. Upon arrival, you check into the Country Cascades Resort (877-686-7829) for a two-night stay. Guest room amenities include a mini refrigerator, hairdryer, complimentary Wi-Fi and flat-screen TV. Tonight's dining and entertainment is the spectacular Dolly Parton Dixie Stampede Dinner Show complete with thrilling horse-riding stunts, special effects, and a mouthwatering four-course feast. After the show, you return to the hotel to retire for the night.
B, DDAY 3
Wake to breakfast included at the hotel before you board the motorcoach and step into the clandestine world of Appalachian moonshining for our Guided Moonshiner "Secrets" Tour, which includes a scenic drive through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Learn about the daring moonshiners who once roamed these rugged hills, evading authorities while perfecting their craft. Hear captivating tales of ingenuity and resilience as you witness historic moonshine sites nestled in the wilderness. Next, enjoy a tour and tasting at Ole Smoky Moonshine Museum & Distillery. Detect the smell of their grains cooking and fermenting, see authentic working moonshine stills and experience the process from beginning to end. Savor the flavor of a few select samples, with the opportunity to purchase some of your favorites before you depart for an afternoon of fun at Dollywood. Known for its world-class entertainment, thrilling rides and family-friendly adventure, Dollywood also hosts master craftsmen and artisans at work proudly continuing the centuries-old traditions of hand-making their arts & crafts with daily demonstrations. Explore the park and grab lunch on your own and at your expense. Next, depart for the Titanic Museum where your experience begins with an exclusive dinner in a private "secret" dining room designed to recreate the elegance of a 1st Class Captain's Meal on the ship. Afterwards, receive your boarding pass with the name of an actual passenger or crew member and step aboard the Titanic Museum where admission is included for a one-of-a-kind way to let visitors experience what it would have been like to walk the hallways, parlors, cabins and Grand Staircase of the Titanic while surrounded by more than 400 artifacts directly from the ship. Touch a real iceberg, reach your hands into 28-degree water, and try to stand on the sloping decks to experience first-hand what it was like on the "unsinkable" Titanic. You then depart for the hotel to turn in for the night.
B, DDAY 4
After breakfast included at the hotel, you board the motorcoach with a local guide for the Oak Ridge, TN "Secret City Tour," a 3-hour guided tour exploring Oak Ridge's pivotal role in the Manhattan Project and WWII. The Manhattan Project was a top-secret research and development program during WWII that led to the creation of the first nuclear weapons. It was here in Oak Ridge that the complex processes for enriching uranium were developed and carried out, while most of its 75,000 residents were unaware of the true purpose of their work. Learn about life in this covert town, stories of wartime innovations and peacetime progress with a few stops along the way. A boxed lunch has been included for you today at no extra charge as you depart for Staunton, VA. You will make a stop along the way for dinner included before you arrive for a late check-in at the historic Hotel 24 South (540-885-4848). In-room amenities include a coffeemaker, hairdryer and complimentary Wi-Fi. It's now time to turn in after a long day.
B, BL, DDAY 5
Begin your final day with breakfast at the hotel before you check out and depart for a stop at Thomas Jefferson's - Monticello. Upon arrival you will go through a security check prior to being shuttled to the mountaintop for a guided house tour. Monticello was the primary plantation and estate of Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States and principal author of the Declaration of Independence. Enjoy a guided exploration of the first floor of the mansion, including the prominent Entrance Hall, Jefferson's private library, and the parlor. Guides share insights into Jefferson's philosophy, inventions, architectural inspirations, and daily life. Afterwards, lunch is on your own and at your expense enroute to your final destination which is the National Cryptological Museum. Situated adjacent to the National Security Agency headquarters at Fort George G. Meade, it is the NSA's only public museum and serves as America's gateway into the secretive world of codebreaking and cryptological history. The museum houses thousands of artifacts ranging from pocket-sized cipher tools to massive mainframe computers offering a unique look at the evolution of national security communications. After your visit, you depart for home with a meal stop at your expense on the way home.
