Don't forget your camera as you will make photo stops as you travel through the White Mountain National Park. Enjoy free time for lunch on your own and your expense in the quaint village of North Conway with boutiques, shops and casual restaurants. Continue your loop tour with a photo stop at Jackson Covered Bridge as you travel through "the notches" with dramatic vistas of Presidential Mountain range and Mt. Washington Valley. Your travels continue through Franconia Notch State Park with a brief stop, if time permits, at Flume Gorge Visitor Center. Next, you arrive at Loon Mountain where you have admission included to take an enclosed gondola ride to the summit of Loon Peak. Witness a breathtaking, panoramic view from the gondola skyride scaling 1.3 miles up the mountain to the top. Once you return to the base of the mountain, you will enjoy a leisurely railway excursion aboard the Cafe Lafayette Dinner Train which includes an elegant 5-course meal. Unwind to the rhythm of the rails in a beautifully restored vintage Pullman railroad car and dine against a backdrop of ever-changing scenery. At the conclusion of the train ride, you return to the hotel for the night.
B, DDay 3
Wake to a deluxe continental breakfast included at the hotel before you check-out and depart for a scenic cruise aboard the M/S Mount Washington on Lake Winnipesaukee. Enjoy a leisurely one-way cruise as the vessel makes its way across the granite state's largest lake with over 18 miles of shoreline and over 200 islands. Once the vessel docks, you will have free time for lunch on your own and at your expense in the classic lakeside village of Wolfeboro featuring quaint little shops and galleries. Next, you depart for the Wright Museum of World War II. The late founder's dream was to create a public understanding and appreciation of the exceptional contributions on the home front and the battlefields made by World War II-era Americans. Unique to traditional WWII museums, the over 14,000 items in the collection are representative of both the home front and battlefield. These irreplaceable items, together with fully operational military vehicles, introduce visitors to a pivotal period in American History. Next, you check in at the Meadowmere Resort (207-646-9661) for the next two nights. The resort features an indoor pool, jacuzzi, pub and movie theatre (the Meadowmere does not have an elevator). Guest room amenities include a mini refrigerator, hair dryer, complimentary Wi-Fi, flat screen TV and iron/ironing board. Complimentary coffee/tea is available in the hotel lobby as well as a microwave for your convenience. Prior to dinner, you will make a photo stop at Maine's southernmost lighthouse, Nubble Light. One of the most photographed lighthouses, this iconic structure features a charming Victorian keeper's house with gingerbread trim and a lantern with miniature cast iron lighthouses on its railing. Afterwards, don your souvenir lobster hat for a lobster choice dinner at a local restaurant (an alternate choice will be available). Following dinner, you return to the hotel to turn in for the night.
B, DDay 4
Enjoy breakfast included this morning before you travel to mid-coast Maine and the village of Boothbay Harbor. Take a narrated Boothbay Harbor Cruise to see the beautiful islands, lighthouses and vacation homes that dot the coastline and perhaps catch a glimpse of some seals out on the ledges. Lunch is on your own and at your expense in Boothbay Harbor, with many restaurants and quaint shops along the bustling waterfront. Next, it's off to the Village of Freeport for some free time to browse the national brand outlet shops and stores including L.L. Bean, as well as a delightful collection of locally owned galleries, unique boutiques and specialty shops with tasty treats. Dinner is included tonight at a nearby restaurant before returning to the hotel to relax and unwind.
B, DDay 5
Enjoy breakfast once again included this morning before checking out and saying goodbye to the rugged and scenic Maine coastline for travel home with meal and rest stops at your expense along the way.
