Day 1
Discover maritime history, vintage steam locomotion and scenic waterfront views on this tour to Mystic & Essex, Connecticut. Following meal and rest stops at your expense, your afternoon is dedicated to immersing yourself in history at the Mystic Seaport Museum, America's leading maritime museum. Enjoy a self-guided exploration through a meticulously recreated 19th-century coastal village, step aboard historic ships like the Charles W. Morgan, and discover engaging exhibits and a working shipyard that brings America's rich seafaring history to life. Museum maps and signage guide your journey through America's rich seafaring history. Following your maritime exploration, you will check in to the Hampton Inn & Suites Mystic (860-536-2536) for an overnight stay. The hotel features an indoor pool and fitness center. You'll step aboard a vintage steam train for a narrated ride, then seamlessly transition to the Becky Thatcher riverboat for a cruise along the river, providing stunning views of iconic landmarks like Gillette Castle.
