DDay 2
Breakfast is included at the hotel before you check out and depart for a self-guided tour of the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. Step into a world where past innovations fuel the imagination of generations to come. A vibrant exploration of genius in all its forms, Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation allows you to experience the strides of America's greatest minds while fully immersing yourself in their stories. Step inside the bus where Rosa Parks took a stand by taking a seat. Play pilot as you explore flight innovations, starting with the Wright brothers' achievements, or make yourself at home inside Buckminster Fuller's circular Dymaxion House. Put yourself in the place of the movers and shakers who blazed the trail to where we stand today. Lunch is on your own and at your expense while at the museum. Following your visit, you board the motorcoach for Frankenmuth, MI where upon arrival you check in at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Frankenmuth (989-652-5000) for the night. Hotel amenities include an indoor pool and hot tub, fitness center and complimentary Wi-Fi. Guest rooms feature a mini refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, hair dryer and complimentary internet access. Dinner is included tonight at a local restaurant. You then return to the hotel for the night.
B, DDay 3
Wake to breakfast included at the hotel before you pack up and depart for a little retail-therapy with a stop at the world's largest Christmas store Bronner's CHRISTmas Wonderland. Decorating hearts and homes with peace and love since 1945, Bronner's is overflowing with 50,000 trims and gifts in one amazing store that spans the size of one and a half football fields. Then, you depart for St. Ignace, MI, that serves as the gateway to the Upper Peninsula where the great waters of Lake Huron and Lake Michigan meet. Here, you board a ferry that transports you to Mackinac Island to enjoy a slower pace of life much like that of the 19th century due to the notable absence of automobiles. Visitors and residents make their way between the quaint cafes, their charming boutique shops, and the magnificent coastline on foot, by way of bicycles, or horse drawn carriage. Upon arrival on Mackinac Island, you check in at the Bicycle Street Inn & Suites (906-847-8005) for a lovely two-night stay. Hotel amenities include a fitness center, business center, on-site restaurant and bar, gift shop and guest laundry. Guest rooms feature a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and television. Dinner is included this evening with the remainder of the night to explore the island at your leisure.
