DAY 1
This delightful one-day excursion is designed to celebrate the beauty of mid-October, beginning with a morning tour of George C. Marshall's Dodona Manor. Located in historic Leesburg, this National Historic Landmark was the beloved home of General George C. Marshall-Chief of Staff of the Army during World War II and the architect of the Marshall Plan. Our docent-led tour will offer an intimate look into the Marshalls' private life, exploring the restored Federal-style house, which is filled with over 90% of the Marshall family's original furnishings from the 1950s. Guests will also have time to enjoy the beautiful grounds and serene gardens that General Marshall lovingly tended. This sets a beautiful, historical tone for the day.
Following the manor visit, we will transition to the vibrant atmosphere of the Waterford Fair, where guests will have approximately two hours of free time dedicated to independent exploration, supporting local artisans, and enjoying lunch on their own from the diverse selection of regional food offerings.
As the day reaches its peak, we will travel to the breathtaking Bluemont Vineyards, perfectly timed to take advantage of the spectacular October views of the rolling hills ablaze with autumn colors. The day culminates with a fun and interactive Sangria Making Class, providing a unique, hands-on experience before we depart.
To complete our beautiful fall tour, a final dinner stop will be made on the way home, with the meal being at the guests' own expense.
