DAY 1
Join Wolf's for a scenic getaway to New Hampshire and stay at a fabulous lakeside retreat on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee that has welcomed visitors for more than 80 years and four generations, the NASWA Resort. During your travels to Laconia, NH you will have meal stops and rest stops at your expense along the way. Early evening, you arrive at the NASWA Resort, offering a unique lakeside experience. Please note that while the NASWA Resort provides a charming and relaxed atmosphere, the accommodations may differ slightly from the typical hotel rooms we usually book featuring a more rustic Island Retreat experience. Expect cozy and inviting rooms with a focus on comfort and a connection to the beautiful surroundings of Lake Winnipesaukee. Enjoy a memorable four-night stay at NASWA (603-366-4341) with a private, lakeside sandy beach, daily activities (additional fees may apply for some activities, schedule TBA), two onsite restaurants, use of kayaks & paddleboards, 45-minute cruise on the 34' Sea Ray Amberjack boat (space is limited and subject to availability, inquire at check-in), and complimentary Wi-Fi. Guest rooms include a mini refrigerator, coffee maker, hairdryer and cable TV. Dinner tonight is included at the resort with the remainder of the night to enjoy the amenities or relax and unwind.
DDAY 2
Wake to breakfast included at the resort before you board the motorcoach for a day of exploration beginning with a narrated cruise on the M/S Mount Washington. This first-class, 230-foot excursion vessel is the flagship of the fleet, takes you for a relaxing cruise on the crystal-clear waters of New Hampshire's largest lake, Winnipesaukee, with narration provided by the ship's crew. The majestic White Mountains create a picturesque backdrop for your scenic excursion. Don't forget to have a camera in-hand to capture photographic memories of your cruise. Once back on land, you have free time for lunch on your own and shopping in the town of Wolfeboro, a charming, little waterfront town. Next, visit the Moultonborough Old Country Store and Museum, a classic New England country store. This authentic, old country store and museum is one of the oldest surviving businesses in the U.S. dating back to 1781. Visitors are invited to browse artifacts from the Lake Region's history and shop for a variety of country store items including maple syrup, cheeses, penny candy, candles, wrought iron hardware and even giant pickles. Afterwards, you return to the resort for dinner included and the rest of the night to take advantage of the resort amenities or relax in the comfort of your room.
B, DDAY 3
Your day begins with an early morning breakfast included at the resort before you set out to explore New Hampshire's spectacular Mt. Washington Valley. Enjoy a bird's eye view of the area with a Mount Washington Cog Railway excursion. Board the Mount Washington Cog Railway for the thrill of a lifetime as it carries passengers up a three-mile-long trestle and the steepest railroad tracks in North America to the 6,288-foot summit of Mount Washington. In 1869, Sylvester Marsh opened this, the world's first mountain-climbing cog railway. Visitors are awe-struck by the unparalleled panoramic views spanning the mountains and valleys of New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, north into Canada, and east to the Atlantic Ocean. At the conclusion of your dramatic climb above the clouds, you have a gourmet lunch included at the Omni Mount Washington Resort. A favorite New England retreat of presidents, poets and celebrities, you will have some time to take a self-guided tour of the hotel with a map provided to navigate your way around. Next, you take a scenic gondola ride in an enclosed 4-person car up to the summit to enjoy refreshing breezes and stunning mountain views. Following your scenic adventure, you return to the resort to freshen up and gather with your fellow passengers for an included Beachside BBQ followed by Beach Fire and S'mores (weather permitted).
B, L, DDAY 4
Breakfast is once again included at the resort. Today is your day to do as little or as much as you please at the resort or take an optional excursion aboard the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad with lunch voucher to be used upon return to the resort. (Note: This is an optional tour and an additional fee of $43 per person applies and must be booked and paid in full at least 30 days in advance of the tour's departure.) The railroad line was built in 1849, which was well in advance of development on the then remote lake. Once a part of the Boston & Maine Railroad that brought tourists to the lake for vacations from the late 1890's to the 1950's, you will view the beautiful vacation homes lining the rail on one side of the train and scenic, panoramic views of the lake on the other side. Following the excursion, you return to the resort to enjoy free time to use your voucher toward lunch (passengers are responsible for the balance of the meal and gratuity is not included) and take advantage of the amenities for the remainder of the afternoon. For those who remain at the resort, you have the day to do as you please. Tonight, dinner is included beachside with fellow passengers and followed by an evening free to enjoy the resort amenities.
B, DDAY 5
Enjoy breakfast included at the resort before you check-out and depart for home with fond memories of scenic beauty and a delightful rustic Island Retreat getaway etched in your mind. Appropriate meal and rest stops at your expense will be made along the way.
