Day 1
Welcome autumn with a delightful one-day excursion through the picturesque Brandywine Valley. Your day begins with a fast-food breakfast stop en route to the magnificent Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library, a premier 175-room historic estate nestled within 1,000 acres of rolling hills, meadows, and ancient woodlands. Here, you will soak in the brilliant fall foliage - marked by deep gold tulip poplars, warm beech tones, and vibrant red dogwoods - during a narrated Tram Tour before enjoying free time to explore Henry Francis du Pont's unmatched collection of American decorative arts and the property's winding garden paths.
After taking in the sights, enjoy lunch on your own at the Winterthur Cafe before departing for the Brandywine Museum of Art. Set in a dramatically restored 19th-century gristmill with floor-to-ceiling glass walls overlooking the tranquil Brandywine River, this museum is world-renowned for its incredible collection of American illustration, landscape paintings, and three generations of art by the famed Wyeth family (N.C., Andrew, and Jamie Wyeth).
