DAY 1

Allow Wolf's Bus Lines to give you a break from the hustle of your everyday life, while taking you to Jim Thorpe, a historically beautiful area, for a day full of history and memories. The town, formerly known as Mauch Chunk, a Lenai Lenape Indian name which means "Bear Mountain", is a mixture of Victorian architecture and unique businesses… a graceful blend of yesterday and today. The scenery of Jim Thorpe is breathtaking as the mountains present a new face every season. The steep hillsides, narrow streets, and terraced gardens earned Mauch Chunk the nickname, "The Switzerland of America." The first journey of your day will be on a historic trolley tour of the town of Jim Thorpe. The mesmerizing historic tour goes from the visitor center through the Jim Thorpe Memorial, the Lehigh Gorge State Park, up Broadway past all the shops, restaurants, and museums, to Mauch Chunk Lake. The trolley tour offers a great way to see most of the town's beautiful natural scenery. Following this breathtaking trolley tour, you depart for the Asa Packer Mansion. Perched on a hill overlooking the town of Jim Thorpe, this three-story grand Italianate villa was the home of Asa Packer who was the founder of Lehigh University and a pioneer of the Lehigh Valley Railroad. Learn about the history of the family and view the original hand-carved woodwork, ornate chandeliers and Victorian-era furniture throughout this National Historic Landmark. Following the tour, you will have time for lunch on your own and at your expense downtown. Afterwards, you will gather together for a 16-mile, narrated, round trip, Lehigh Gorge Scenic train ride, on the Reading and Northern mainline. On the way to Old Penn Haven, you will pass Glen Onoko, which is the southern gateway to the Lehigh Gorge State Park. Enjoy the beautiful, breathtaking scenery as you chug through the winding Lehigh River. After your train ride ends, you will depart for dinner included at Macaluso's Restaurant. The restaurant offers a delightful culinary journey by infusing traditional Italian dishes with a distinctive contemporary touch, guaranteeing a notable dining experience. Using premium ingredients, such as select cuts of meat, freshly caught seafood, imported cheeses, and seasonal herbs, we faithfully recreate the authentic flavors reminiscent of Italy. Following dinner, you will board the motorcoach and depart for home.
