DAY 2

Wake to breakfast included at the hotel before you check out and embark on your first train excursion aboard the Pikes Peak Cog Railway up to 12,110 feet offering a unique way to experience the mountain's scenery and awe-inspiring summit views. An historic rack railway, the train climbs 8.9 miles to the summit of Pikes Peak, the highest point in North America accessible by cog railway. It is a "cog railway," meaning it uses a toothed rack rail in the center of the track to mesh with cogs on the train, allowing it to climb steep inclines. Upon return, you board the motorcoach and depart for Garden of the Gods Trading Post to enjoy lunch on your own and time to browse unique local treasures. Afterwards, you embark on a tour of the Garden of the Gods. An abundance of plant and animal life can be found throughout its 1,340 acres, as well as the magnificent red sandstone rock formations, for which the Garden is best known. Following your tour, you return to the hotel for time to grab dinner on your own and relax and unwind.

Upon arrival in Silverton, enjoy some free time to explore the many shops and have lunch on your own and at your expense. DAY 6

Fuel up for your last day of touring with breakfast included at the hotel before you check out and travel to your first stop of the day at one of the grandest landscapes of the American West, Colorado National Monument. This scenic treasure is much more than a monument, witness towering monoliths that exist within a vast plateau and canyon panorama. Marvel at sheer-walled, red rock canyons along the twists and turns of Rim Rock Drive, where you may spy bighorn sheep and soaring eagles (sightings are not guaranteed). Your journey continues eastward for a ride through the Heart of the Rockies enjoying vistas of rugged canyons, pristine wilderness, and deep gorges. You will cross the Continental Divide at Loveland Pass before descending into the "Mile High City" of Denver. You have admission included at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden. This museum's mission is to acquire, preserve and exhibit railroad equipment, artifacts, and photographs emphasizing Rocky Mountain area railroads. Learn about the history of this region from the 1860's to present. What a great end to your Colorado train adventure. You then check-in to your host hotel, the Embassy Suites by Hilton Denver International Airport (303-574-3000), for your last night's stay.
