DAY 1

A short stop will be made this morning on your way to Cape May, New Jersey. Upon arrival in Cape May, enjoy free time in the city's historic square, Washington Street Mall, to browse the quaint shops and have lunch on your own in one of the sidewalk cafes. Mid-afternoon you will check in to your oceanfront hotel the Marquis de Lafayette (609-884-3500). Hotel amenities include a heated pool and sauna, on-site restaurant and pub, and rocking chairs for a relaxing view of the ocean. Guest rooms feature a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and hair dryer. After time to freshen up, you board an old-fashioned trolley for a narrated tour of the Cape May Historic District, possessing one of the country's largest collections of 19th century seaside wood framed buildings. Settled by whalers and fishermen in colonial times, learn how Cape May nearly burnt to the ground in 1878, but reconstruction efforts brought back this charming seaside resort dotted with majestic Victorian era buildings that still today continues to be the oldest of its kind in the country. Following your educational and entertaining tour, you have dinner included at a local restaurant. Afterwards, you return to the hotel for the remainder of the night.

Cape May has wonderful sightseeing options including taking a relaxing cruise along the shores of Cape May to learn more about the marine mammals that inhabit its waters, an option for you would be to choose the Cape May Whale Watcher. This 110-foot vessel has been offering dolphin and whale watching cruises since 1993 (additional fees apply). For more information or to purchase tickets call 800-786-5445. You may wish to visit the Cape May Lighthouse on Cape May Point and take a trip to the top for a picturesque view of the surrounding area.
