Day 1
Join the pack for a summertime retreat to the Adirondacks for a spectacular blend of rich history, scenic beauty & the thrill of live horse racing. Your journey begins with meal and rest stop at your expense enroute to Glens Falls, NY for a four-night stay at the Queensbury Hotel (518-792-1121). Newly renovated guest rooms offer a coffee/tea maker with supplies, hairdryer, iron/ironing board and complimentary internet access. The Queensbury Hotel is a beautifully decorated Victorian style hotel featuring an indoor heated pool and jacuzzi, fitness center, on-site restaurant and cocktail lounge. After a brief time to fresh up, join your fellow passengers in the hotel for dinner and time to get acquainted. The remainder of the evening is yours to retire to your room or perhaps enjoy a cocktail in the lounge to relax and unwind.
DDay 2
Enjoy breakfast included at the hotel before you depart for your chosen adventure today. You have the choice today of two excursions, railbiking along the scenic Revolution Rail with a box lunch included or visit the Hyde Collection Museum and Historic House, along with wine tasting and Charcuterie Board included for lunch at Adirondack Winery. If you choose the Revolution railbiking, it is accessible for nearly all ages and ability levels allowing riders to pedal along the railroad tracks under their own power to witness scenery that has never seen passenger traffic and is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Your guides lead you on a 6-mile round trip excursion on railroad tracks through the beautiful Adirondack forest canopy, along the banks of the Hudson River and across the Hudson on the spectacular Hadley Bridge. Cameras are encouraged as this unique and scenic experience will prove to be one that you will want to tell family and friends about, as well as share amazing photos. It is approximately a 2 to 2 ½ hour roundtrip adventure. Riders of any age are welcome to participate; however, it is limited by a 300 lb. per rider per seat weight restriction with a mix of tandem and quad occupancy rail carts. A boxed lunch is also included. If you choose to visit the Hyde Collection Museum and Historic House with wine tasting and Charcuterie Board included for lunch at Adirondack Winery, your experience features a guided tour of the home of Louis and Charlotte Hyde to learn about their important collection of European and American art displayed amid Italian Renaissance and 18th century French antique furnishings. Following the tour, you visit the Adirondack Winery Queensbury. You will wet your whistle and inspire your taste buds as you sample a select few wines from their award-winning handcrafted wines, enjoy a delightful selection of items on a Charcuterie Board for lunch and learn about their wine-making process. Both groups will return to the hotel to enjoy some down time to relax and refresh or stroll downtown to visit the shops. Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant.
B, L, DDay 3
Wake to breakfast included at the hotel prior to departure for travel to the Lake Champlain area of eastern New York for a visit to Fort Ticonderoga. Your guide will provide a 30-minute introduction, then you are free to immerse yourself in the history of the Fort at your own pace. Located within the shadow of the Adirondack Mountains and overlooking Vermont's picturesque Green Mountains, Fort Ticonderoga guards the historic portage between Lake Champlain and Lake George. Often called the "Key to the Continent," its strategic location made it a major flashpoint in both the French and Indian War and the American Revolution. A boxed lunch is included today. You then return to the hotel to relax and refresh, or spend some time browsing the downtown before you depart for Lake George for a spectacular dinner cruise aboard the Lac du Saint Sacrement. See the natural beauty of Lake George by water and see why it has been named the Queen of the American Lakes. A bountiful buffet dinner is included with plenty of time to head to the upper deck to take in the fresh air and the scenic panoramic views of the mountain wilderness areas on the crystal-clear waters of Lake George. Once back at the dock, you return to the hotel to retire for the night.
B, BL, DDay 4
