Day 1
Today, we put our differences aside and come together as one to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice and gave of themselves for the freedom of others, as we pay tribute to our military, with a visit to the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial, and then to the Evening Parade at Marine Barracks, Washington, DC. (**Before your day begins with Wolf's Bus Lines, please be sure to eat a late breakfast/early lunch, as you will NOT be eating dinner until 4:00 p.m.**) Your day begins with a stop to visit the U.S. Marine Corps Memorial; "In honor and in memory of the men of the United States Marine Corps who have given their lives to their country since November 10, 1775." The United States Marine Corps War Memorial represents this nation's gratitude to Marines and those who have fought beside them. While the statue depicts one of the most famous incidents of World War II, the memorial is dedicated to all Marines who have given their lives in defense of the United States since 1775. Next, board the motorcoach and depart for Tony and Joe's Seafood Palace, for dinner included. Located on the Potomac River in Georgetown's Washington Harbor, Tony and Joe's has been dedicated to bringing you the freshest seafood and steaks since 1983. Whether dining indoors or out on our riverside patio, you can enjoy the views of the nearby Kennedy Center, Roosevelt Island, and the Key Bridge. Then, you will board the motorcoach for your final stop of the day; Washington, DC, at the Marine Barracks for the Evening Parade. Enjoy the one hour and fifteen-minute performance of music and precision featuring "The Presidents Own" United States Marine Band, The Commandant's Own" The United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, the Marine Corps Color Guard, the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon, Ceremonial Marchers, and LCpl. Chesty XIII, the official mascot of the Marine Barracks. The "Oldest Post of the Corps" was established in 1801 and has performed military reviews and ceremonies since its founding. The present-day Evening Parade was first conducted on July 5, 1957, and is offered solely to express the dignity and pride that represents more than two centuries of heritage for all Americans. After the performance, you depart for home.
