DAY 1

Following meal and rest stops enroute, you arrive at Maine's southernmost lighthouse in Cape Neddick, the Nubble Light. One of the most photographed lighthouses, this iconic structure features a charming Victorian keeper's house with gingerbread trim and a lantern with miniature cast iron lighthouses on its railing. Interestingly enough, photos of the Nubble Light were chosen by NASA officials for the Voyager Spacecraft that were intended to identify the Earth if the craft fell into extraterrestrial hands. Next, you will arrive in Ogunquit, ME - which means "beautiful place by the sea". Upon arrival at the Meadowmere Resort (207-646-9661), you will be greeted with a welcome reception. Meadowmere offers contemporary elegance blended with old-fashioned Maine hospitality. The room amenities include complimentary wireless internet, refrigerator, hair dryer, and cable television. The hotel offers an indoor pool, jacuzzi, and movie theatre (the hotel does not have an elevator.) Dinner this evening is included at an area restaurant. The remainder of the evening is yours to relax and enjoy the hotel amenities.

DAY 2

Enjoy breakfast included this morning before you check-out and meet your local guide for a narrated tour of Portland, Maine's largest "city-by-the-sea". Portland has a unique waterfront district that is full of culture and history. Learn about Portland's famous citizens and its maritime history as you pass by views of old forts, the working waterfront, and the islands dotting Casco Bay. Drive by the boyhood home of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the Victoria Mansion and sea captains' mansions. A stop will be made to photograph Maine's classic Portland Head Lighthouse. You'll stop in Portland's historic waterfront district with free time for lunch and shopping on your own. Next, sit back and relax as you take a scenic drive to Bar Harbor, known for its quiet little protected harbors filled with working lobster boats. Ospreys and bald eagles' nest high in the spruces along the rugged shores, deer browse the open fields, moose forage the wetlands and harbor seals make their annual pilgrimage to quiet coves. Upon arrival in Bar Harbor, will check in to the Harborside Hotel, Spa & Marina (207-288-5033) for the next two nights. Situated directly on Frenchman's Bay near the heart of downtown Bar Harbor, the Harborside is a relaxed seaside retreat that embodies the spirit of coastal Maine and offers elegantly appointed accommodations featuring coffee makers, hair dryers, iron/ironing board. Hotel amenities include an outdoor pool (seasonal), use of the fitness center at the Bar Harbor Club, as well as an on-site restaurant and lounge, each offering a unique dining experience. Afterwards, you will put on your souvenir Maine lobster hat for dinner included with a Maine Lobster choice (alternative menu selection available). You then return to the hotel to relax and unwind for the night.

DAY 3

Following breakfast included at the Harborside Hotel, you depart for a 2-hour nature sightseeing cruise on Frenchman's Bay. During your cruise you will pass by Egg Rock Lighthouse, which was transformed from its original rare twelve-foot square building with a brick tower rising from the center and stairway that follows the contours of the square structure. A second level was added later to accommodate one family and create a better heating situation during the harsh winter months. Enjoy breathtaking scenery of coastal Maine and Acadia National Park. After returning to the dock, you have free time for lunch on your own at your expense and a little time for browsing the boutiques and restaurants of Bar Harbor. Next, you meet your local guide for a driving tour of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. At Acadia, the first national park founded east of the Mississippi, you may see 9 mountains over 1000 feet high, stone bridges, lakes, ponds, trails and carriage roads. You will travel the entire Park Loop road with stops at Cadillac Mountain, Thunder Hole on Ocean Drive and Sieur De Mont Springs Wild Gardens of Acadia. In addition, learn about the rich and famous visitors who built summer cottages in Bar Harbor. Afterwards, you return to the hotel for dinner included and the remainder of the night to enjoy the hotel amenities, stroll through the property and soak in the beautiful scenery or take a short walk to the downtown and experience the picturesque waterfront.
