Christmas in Dixie - Myrtle Beach

DAY 1

Join us for a heart-warming holiday excursion to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Following meal and rest stops enroute, you arrive in Myrtle Beach at your home away from home for the next three nights, the Beach Cove Resort (843-286-5690). Resort amenities include an indoor pool and whirlpool, 3 outdoor pools (one outdoor pool heated year-round), a fitness center, racquetball court, on-site dining options and a cocktail lounge, a business center, coin operated laundry, and complimentary Wi-Fi internet access. Guest room features include a living room with sleeper sofa, table and chairs, private balcony, fully equipped kitchen with stove, microwave, refrigerator, basic utensil and dishes, coffee maker, cable television, DVD player, hair dryer and iron/ironing board. Dinner this evening is included at the hotel after a long day's travel.

DAY 2

Breakfast is included at the hotel before you board the motorcoach for travel to Broadway at the Beach. Upon arrival, admission is included for the Ripley's Festival of Trees. Marvel at the creatures from our oceans, lakes, rivers and swamps as you stroll through the aquarium amid the themed trees beautifully decorated representing our 55 great states and territories. The aquarium is all decked out with holiday warmth and sparkle around every corner. Next, you have free time to explore the shops at Broadway at the Beach and have lunch on your own as well. Early afternoon, you depart for Alabama Theatre for fabulous, heartwarming holiday performance. The talented performers present a combination of singing and dancing, magical scenery and special effects for a musical experience sure to put you in the spirit of season. Afterwards, you return to the hotel to freshen up. Tonight, dinner and a show are included at Pirate's Voyage. Enjoy a hearty four-course meal as you celebrate all of the things that make the holidays special as the Mystical Christmas Spirit takes Captain Scrooge on a journey through time and space to find the meaning of Christmas. Cheer along as giant toys come to life and put on an amazing performance before your eyes. Laugh at the hijinks of the comical castaway and gaze in wonderment at a live Nativity and an angel with a special message for her landlubbers and pirates alike. After the show, you return to the hotel for the night.

DAY 3

Wake to breakfast included at the hotel prior to departure for a tour of Hopsewee Plantation delightfully decorated in its holiday finest. Hear about how the wealthy plantation owners celebrated Christmas, as well as the Gullah culture Christmas traditions. Enjoy an "Attic to Cellar" guided tour of Hopsewee, built circa 1740 some 40 years before the American Revolutionary War, it was one of the South's major rice plantations, as well as the birthplace of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Lynch, Jr. Also included in your visit is lunch in their River Oak Cottage Tea Room. Next, you depart for a stop at Pawley's Island and the Hammock Shops Village offering a memorable mix of Lowcountry nature, history and shopping. After time to browse and maybe even check a few gifts off of your holiday gift list, you depart for one of the most beloved holiday events in the southeast, Nights of a Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Garden. Named "Best Christmas Lights in South Carolina" by Travel & Leisure Magazine, Brookgreen Gardens comes to life amid the soft glow of more than 2,700 hand-lit candles and countless sparkling lights. Stroll the garden pathways with the heartwarming sounds of musical entertainment and carolers singing holiday favorites. Dinner tonight is on your own and at your expense while at Brookgreen. You return to the hotel at the conclusion of our visit.

DAY 4

Enjoy breakfast included at the hotel before you check-out and depart for home with heartwarming memories of Christmas in Dixie - Myrtle Beach. Meal and rest stops at your expense will be made along the way home.
