Day 1

Meal and rest stops will be made in route to Canandaigua, New York, for a guided tour of Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Park with free time to explore the house and browse the gift shop. Inspired by European and Asian locales, Sonnenberg Gardens bears the imprint of philanthropist Mary Clark Thompson. Gaze at the detailed landscape reminiscent of mountainous Japan featuring water cascading past the Tea House and underneath five bridges. Visit the Sub-Rose garden, also known as the "secret garden"; it features an intricate marble fountain and bench on a raised platform. The gardens are toured on foot, and there are some that may require guests to walk a distance of ΒΌ mile to a mile. However, there are several large gardens surrounding the house, so guests who are not able to walk a long distance may also enjoy the seasonal blooms. At the conclusion of our tour, we will depart for Geneva, NY, for dinner in the majestic Belhurst Castle. On the shores of Seneca Lake the romance of the past is combined with the comforts of the present in an elegant, yet relaxed, atmosphere amid rich woodwork, mosaic-tiled fireplaces, and beamed cathedral ceilings that set the stage for a truly unique dining experience. (Please choose one of the following entrees: Sage Marinated Chicken Breast over garlic and paremsan scalloped potatoes; Seared Atlantic Salmon topped with preserved lemon and served over toated barley with roasted heirloom tomatoes and tarragon; Grilled 8oz. Boneless Pork Chop served over whipped sweet potatoes and topped with caramelized pears; or Zucchini Risotto (creamy, thyme scented Arborio rice with garbanzo beans, peas carrots and zucchini). iIf you have not already made a choice, please contact our office at least one month prior to the trip date. Dinner will be followed by a wine tasting of Belhurst's own label wines, featuring a sampling of their best-selling vintages. At the conclusion of our visit, we will check into the Inn on the Lake, Canandaigua (585-394-7800) for one night. Nestled on the shore of Canandaigua Lake in the heart of the Finger Lakes region, the Inn offers magnificent panoramic views along with an indoor and outdoor pool, fitness studio, in-house restaurant and lounge, and complimentary high speed wireless internet access. Guest rooms feature a coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board and flat screen television with Direct TV. Enjoy the remainder of the evening to relax and unwind.

Day 2

Breakfast will be included at the hotel before we check out and depart on a scenic journey through picturesque rolling hills, along crystal blue lakes, sprawling vineyards and farmlands amid charming towns and villages. Our first stop will be at the Swedish Hill Winery in Romulus, NY. Swedish Hill is celebrating the 30th Anniversary of producing quality wines in the Finger Lakes, but their history dates back to 1969 when the first vines were planted to sell grapes to the local wineries. The winery boasts a wonderful mixture of award-winning red, whites, sparkling and dessert wines as well as non-alcoholic juices available in their gift shop along with other specialty items produced in the local area. Afterwards, we will depart for Knapp Winery & Vineyard Restaurant located near Seneca Falls. Knapp had planted some of the first vinifera grapes along the shores of Cayuga Lake and was the first winery to vinify the grape variety Cabernet Franc. Recognizing the importance of wine with food, Knapp opened the Vineyard Restaurant, where you will enjoy a gourmet sandwich with a wine tasting after the meal. Please choose one of the following lunch selections: Smoked Garlic Pulled Pork Sandwich (slowly braised and smoked pulled pork in a zesty garlic barbeque sauce served on a rustic roll with garlic chive aioli and pickled red cabbage slaw, along with house-made smoked salt kettle chips and Cayuga Caviar which is a marinated black bean, corn and vegetable relish); Vineyard Chicken Salad Wrap (chicken salad with baby greens and provolone cheese in a herbed tortilla wrap along with house-made smoked salt kettle chips and Cayuga Caviar which is a marinated black bean, corn and vegetable relish); or FLX Cobb Salad (fresh romaine hearts, farm raised boiled egg, bacon lardons, diced avocado, cucumber slices, grape tomato, blue cheese shavings and a light red wine vinegar and Dijon vinaigrette finished with grilled chicken breast). **If you have not already made a selection, please call our office no later than one month prior to the tour departure date to do so. Our next stop will be for a tasting at Myer Farm Distillers in Ovid, NY. As a New York State Farm Distillery, Myer uses their own homegrown, certified organic grain to craft distill a range of spirits. The building was designed to reflect the old distilleries of Scotland with its pagoda topped stillhouse paying homage to Scottish malt houses, finished in hand-cut and chiseled wall stone. Myer offers an award-winning selection of distilled spirits including vodka, unaged and aged whiskey, botanical spirits, single barrel whiskey, and specialty spirits. After the tasting and time to browse the gift shop, our final stop will be at Lively Run Goat Dairy Farm and Creamery for dessert. Situated between Cayuga and Seneca Lakes, we will visit Lively Run and learn how their high-quality products are made humanely and safely. Their friendly herd of Alpines (French) and Sanaans (Swiss) produce the milk that is used for its handmade cheeses. Conclude your visit with a piece of cheesecake for the road after time to browse their gift shop. We will depart for home with meal and rest stops en route.
