Day 1

We’ll begin our adventure at the breathtaking Six Mile Creek Vineyard located in Ithaca. Six Mile Creek Vineyard features one of the most attractive tasting rooms in the Finger Lakes coupled with lovely gardens framed by a fountain pond and breathtaking views of the Danby Hills. Their historic Dutch Colonial Barn has been transformed into their tasting room. Since opening in 1987, they have become well known for their wines, and here you will have a chance to sample and take it all in--relaxing way to start off your day! Our next stop takes us to Buttermilk Falls State Park. Buttermilk takes its name from its centerpiece, the classical 165 feet foaming cascade of water. The water mixes, twists and turns over the rock, looking like creamy buttermilk as it reaches the bottom. It is the largest of 10 falls along the creek. Minimal walking is required to enjoy the views. After some time to capture a few photos, we will depart for Treman State Park, an area of wild beauty and picturesque scenery. Just a short 5 minute walk along the Gorge trail from the parking area, view this beautiful, rugged natural wonder with cascading falls. Next, we will check into the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Ithaca, NY (607-256-1100) for a two-night stay. Day 2

After breakfast at the hotel, we will check out and depart for Cornell Plantation’s Arboretum, named #1 of 50 most beautiful college arboretums for its rolling hills, panoramic views and beautiful gardens. The plantings in the arboretum, all hardy to the area, help foster the Plantation's scientific, educational and plant appreciation efforts. The rolling hills and valleys were carved out by Fall Creek following the retreat of the last glaciers over 10,000 years ago. We will have time to explore on our own the Botanical Gardens which include herbs, rhododendrons, perennials, plants of winter interest and much more and is tucked into the Northeast corner of Cornell University’s campus. Don’t miss the Nevin Welcome Center, located in the Botanical Gardens that includes fantastic interpretative exhibits. After a driving tour and free time to tour the botanical gardens and gift shop, we will depart for downtown Ithaca for lunch on your own before making our way to the Thirsty Owl Wine Company for a wine tasting. Located on Cayuga Lake, the vineyard offers breathtaking views of the lake and vineyards. While here, enjoy a tasting of fine and award-winning wines. Following the tasting, we will make our way down the road to Myer Farm Distillers. Nestled in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region, this distillery uses certified organic grain and is one of the largest and oldest currently operating organic farms in the Northeast United States. They offer a number of award-winning craft distilled spirits. While here, enjoy a tasting and time to browse the gift shop. Then, depart for a visit to Lively Run Dairy, where we’ll learn all about the process of making goat cheese. We will meet the herd of French Alpine and Swiss Sanaan goats that provide the milk for Lively Run’s cheeses that they make on site and that we will sample. Our final stop will be at the incomparable Taughannock Falls Overlook in Ulysses. Here, we can enjoy views of the Falls which has a drop of 215 feet and makes it one of the highest east of the Rocky Mountains. The Falls are formed by a rock bed creek entering Cayuga Lake and are surrounded by a glen with walls climbing to 400 feet. After time to photograph this magnificent natural wonder, we will depart for dinner included at the Boatyard Grill. Surrounded by water, this nautical-themed restaurant offers wonderful views and delicious dining. Please choose from the following entrees: Eggplant Arrabiatta (panko crusted eggplant, arrabiatta sauce-tomato based-provolone, mozzarella and cavatappi), Grilled Salmon (Jail Island filet with jasmine rice and fresh vegetable), Georgie Peach Grilled Chicken (served with sweet mashed potatoes, Georgia peach chutney and fresh vegetables), and Maker's Mark Sirloin (with bourbon sauce, garlic mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables). ***If you have not already made a selection, please call our office at least one month prior to the trip date.
