Day 1

We begin our scenic journey to the Bay State, Massachusetts, with meal and rest stops en route. Upon arrival in Bernardston, MA, we will stop at the Kringle Candle Company to enjoy the invigorating and soothing aromas crafted by the son of Yankee Candle's original founder. Kringle's founder used the same antique Queen Anne stove that his father did to create his first candle in 2008. Much like his father's business, Mike Kettridge III has taken a simple idea and made it a must-have for your everyday home d├ęcor and special events. An outstanding variety of fragrances, collections and styles await you in his magical store. After time to shop, we will take a short drive to the Inn at Crumpin-Fox (800-436-9466), where we will receive a red carpet greeting and be welcomed with wine and cheese for a four-night stay. The property is located adjacent to the Crumpin-Fox Golf Club, numerous nature trails, and a gazebo where many a guest has enjoyed a quiet moment amid the tranquil, scenic landscape. The hotel rooms feature cable television, mini refrigerator, complimentary coffee, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and complimentary wireless internet access. Dinner this evening will be included in the Crumpin-Fox dining room. At the conclusion of your meal, musical entertainment will be provided in the Hospitality Room before you retire for the evening.

Day 2

Once again, enjoy breakfast at the Inn this morning. Following breakfast depart on board the Wolf's coach for the Rock of Ages Granite Quarry manufacturing plant and visitor center. You will see one of the world's deepest and largest open quarries at nearly 600 feet deep. You may also take a self-guided tour of the factory where you may watch artisans as they turn granite into enduring works of art. Lunch is included and served prior to departure from Rock of Ages. Afterwards, head off by coach to visit the world famous Von Trapp Lodge located on 2,500 acres overlooking the classic New England village of Stowe, Vermont. You will enjoy this unique Austrian-inspired architecture and European-style lodge. The Von Trapp family history was made famous in 1965 by the movie "The Sound of Music" starring Julie Andrews as Maria and Christopher Plummer as Baron Von Trapp. Come hear the real story of the family's travels and see this beautiful lodge. From the lodge, the most logical destination would be for a tour and tasting at the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory--the perfect mid-afternoon snack. Later this afternoon, return to the Inn at Crumpin-Fox where dinner is included, followed by a relaxing evening either playing games in the Square or resting in your room. (B, L, D)

Rockwell lived in Stockbridge for the last 25 years of his life.
