A Welcome Dinner will be arranged for the group at the hotel. Afterwards, you are free to take a walk and/or relax in your room after your day of flying.D
Begin your day with a delicious buffet breakfast at the hotel prior to your day of sightseeing. You will have three (3) options from which to choose for your day on tour with lunch included.
OPTION 1: You may choose to walk through one of the tented/warehouse areas where float decorating is taking place with the cutting, pasting and creation of the floats of the Rose Parade - smell the flowers, see the tedious work of many volunteers that goes into the attachment of flowers, petals, grasses and seeds that create the colorful, unique floats of the Tournament of Roses Parade. Next is a visit to The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens. The Huntington is an oasis of art and culture set amid 150 acres of breathtaking gardens. The Gallery contains the most comprehensive collection of British 18th and 19th century art outside of London. The gardens are comprised of 14,000 varieties of trees and plants and are home to the largest public collection of camellias and azaleas in the world and 1,200 varieties of roses. Lunch will also be included while at the Huntington Library. Late this afternoon, your shuttle will bring you back to the Hotel Irvine for dinner on your own and the remainder of the evening to do as you please.
OPTION 2: Visit the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library with White House Luncheon under the wings of Air Force One. The Reagan Presidential Library is a state-of-the-art museum that takes you from Reagan's early years to his time spent as a world leader. It is also the final resting place of former President Reagan and Mrs. Nancy Reagan and is the largest of the 13 federally operated presidential libraries which features permanent exhibits as well as continually changing temporary exhibits of President Reagan's life. One of the most exciting experiences at the Library is when you get to go inside Air Force One to get a first-hand look at how the President traveled. After the tour, we will have included an elegant White House luncheon underneath the wings of Air Force One. This three course menu was designed for one of President Reagan's luncheons at the White House. Following lunch, we will have just a bit more time to explore the temporary exhibits and visit the gift shop. Late afternoon, we will return to the Hotel Irvine for dinner on your own and the remainder of the evening to do as you please.
OPTION 3: Life's A Beach! Spend the day in Newport Beach. First, set sail on a 45-minute narrated cruise of the Newport Beach Harbor. Learn about the history of Newport and the famous Pirates Cove that was once the home of Gilligan and Nanook and many other film segments. Witness some of the homes from Newport's most rich and famous, past and present residents. Lunch this afternoon will be included at one of Newport Beach's most iconic waterfront places to dine, the Harborside Restaurant. After lunch, grab a towel and stick your feet in the sand or board a ferry to Balboa Island for some retail therapy. Late afternoon, we will return to the Hotel Irvine for dinner on your own and the remainder of the evening to do as you please.
All members of the various optional groups will return back to Hotel Irvine. Dinner is on your own and the evening is free for you to do as you please. **Shuttle service will be provided to and from Downtown Disney**
Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel prior to departure for your daytime activity. Like yesterday, you must choose your outing for the day from three (3) inviting choices.
OPTION 1: Warner Bros. Studio Tour and Hollywood City Tour. First, you'll get an insider's look at one of Hollywood's busiest and most famous motion picture studios. Get an intimate, historical and educational behind-the-scenes view of an actual working studio including sound stages, production shops and film sets. We will visit the Warner Bros. Museum where you will see famous costumes and movie props. Next, it's off to Hollywood for a guided City Tour. Hollywood comes to life as we explore the glitz and glam, the past and present, and we witness Graumman's Chinese Theatre, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and more. Lunch will be on your own today at the Hollywood and Highland Center.
OPTION 2: Catalina Island. Board a ferry for a one-hour cruise to Catalina Island. As you approach the island, your eyes will be drawn to the misty green peaks of the mountain range that rise from the ocean floor, gaze at the gleaming buildings that climb the hillside above the Mediterranean-style port of Avalon, and finally stare in amazement at the magnificent pleasure boats and an occasional cruise ship. The time is yours to stroll through the storybook town packed with boutiques, restaurants and things to do. You will have approximately 5 hours to enjoy as much or as little as you like. Lunch is on your own today. You will board a ferry to take a return trip back to the mainland.
OPTION 3: Mission San Juan Capistrano and Richard Nixon Presidential Library. Enjoy a guided tour of famous Mission San Juan Capistrano, known as the "Jewel of the Missions". Founded in 1776, the Spanish adobe mission is considered to be the most romantic and best preserved of the old missions. See the Serra Chapel, the oldest building still in use in California, as well as a museum of Native American and Spanish artifacts and magnificent gardens filled with flowers. Secondly, visit the newly renovated Richard Nixon Presidential Library featuring over 70 exhibits and 11 original movies. This interactive library follows the life of former President Nixon from his early childhood years in California to his time in the Oval Office, to the Watergate Scandal and now his final resting place. Lunch will be on your own during the day.
All members of the various optional groups will return later this afternoon to the hotel. You will have time to freshen up and enjoy a delicious New Year's Eve Dinner Party with dancing and casino fun. Don't forget the champagne toast to ring in the New Year!!
Board your bus early for transfer to Pasadena, home to the 129th annual Tournament of Roses Parade. A breakfast will be provided this morning.
