Next, we will check into the Best Western Plus Historic Uptown Kingston, NY (845-338-0400) for a three night stay. The hotel features an indoor salt water pool, state-of-the-art fitness center and game room. Begin your day with a hot American breakfast included at the hotel. We will depart the hotel en route to Hyde Park for a tour of the Vanderbilt Mansion, a remarkable example of a gilded-age country place, illustrating the changes that occurred as America industrialized in the years after the Civil War. In terms of architecture, interior, mechanical systems, road systems and landscape, Vanderbilt Mansion will leave you awe-struck. The beauty of the mansion is enhanced by the stunning Hudson River in the background. Next, we will visit and have lunch included at the Culinary Institute of America. Connecticut-based attorney Frances Roth was determined to establish a school that would become "the culinary center of the nation". Roth turned her passion into a new vision of education chefs. Formerly known as the New Haven Restaurant Institute located in Connecticut, in 1951 its name was changed to the Culinary Institute of America. In 1972, its new campus was opened in Hyde Park. Learn about the journey aspiring chefs take while attending the CIA. Afterwards, we will travel to Poughkeepsie, NY, for a stroll across The Walkway Over The Hudson. This is an old train bridge over the river that has been turned into an urban park, a walkway that affords you wonderful views up and down the Hudson River. Our final stop will be at the incomparable Mohonk Mountain House, a unique resort poised along the banks of Mohonk in the Hudson Valley. Founded in 1869, this Victorian castle resort is a National Historic Landmark surrounded by carefully landscaped gardens and pristine wilderness. Inside, discover a warm interior that is reminiscent of a bygone era featuring ornate woodwork, fireplaces constructed from Shawangunk stone, period accents, and expansive windows that frame the breathtaking scenery. We will have some free time to roam the grounds. Following dinner at the Mohonk Mountain House, we will return to the hotel for the remainder of the evening.

A hot American breakfast will be included at the hotel. Following breakfast, we will depart for Val-Kill, Eleanor Roosevelt's home. The only residence owned personally by the First Lady, Val-Kill consists of 180 acres just two miles from Springwood, the Roosevelt family home. Located within the estate is Val-Kill Industries, which was a furniture factory started by Mrs. Roosevelt to teach young men from the area a trade during the Depression. After the factory closed in 1936, the First Lady converted it into a retreat home that eventually became her primary residence after FDR's death. Esteemed guests such as Winston Churchill, the King and Queen of England, and child celebrity Shirley Temple were invited to picnic and swim at this serene, picturesque estate. Next, we are off to Crowne Maple for a tour, tasting and lunch inside the state-of-the-art sugarhouse. Trace the miles-long journey their organic maple syrup travels in a day from tree to barrel. Go behind the scenes and learn about the environmental variables and artisanal practices that make pure maple syrup one of the earth's sweetest natural resources and how Crown Maple produces the exceptional maple products regarded as quite possibly the purest on earth. Your tour culminates in a guided 5-stage tasting in Madava's Tap Holed Maple Tasting Room, which offers a full view into Crown Maple's hand bottling and sugar-making operations. Afterwards, we will continue to stimulate our sense of taste with a visit to Millbrook Vineyards & Winery. The New York Times calls Millbrook the "Hudson Valley's Flagship Winery". Step inside Millbrook's tasting room, which is located in a beautifully appointed 1940's Dutch style barn and loft space to a select sampling of some of their awarding-winning varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Tocai Friulano, and Reisling. Feel free to purchase some of your favorites to take home and share with family and friends, or maybe to keep for yourself to enjoy with a good book. Located a stone's throw from Millbrook Vineyards is our next destination, Wing's Castle. Featured on HGTV and the backdrop of many albums, movies and fashion shoots, Wing's was built as a result of a love affair with castles by owners Peter and Toni Ann Wing. The castle resides on what was once Peter's family farm and part of that same family farm is home to Millbrook Vineyards & Winery. Almost 40 years later construction continues on this American marvel. Following our visit, we will continue to the historic little town of Rhinebeck, NY. A sophisticated, four-corner town and proud of its Dutch history, Rhineback has wonderful views of the Catskill Mountains, the Hudson River and more. Stroll through the tree-lined streets and browse the unique specialty shops and have dinner on your own before we return to the hotel for the night.
