DAY 1

Hop aboard and prepare for a sweet getaway to Meyersdale, PA for the annual Pennsylvania Maple Festival with a brief restroom stop along the way. Since its humble beginnings around a pot-bellied stove, the PA Maple Festival has had a strong tradition of celebrating the sweet success of Somerset County's maple industry. Upon arrival, we will fill our bellies at the Lions Pancake Shack with an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast. Enjoy great food prepared by our gracious hosts. After you have eaten your fill, you may wish to walk off some of that good food with a visit across the street to the Quilt Exhibit. Since its establishment in 1976, the Quilt Exhibit has been an ever-popular part for the festival featuring magnificent displays of hand and machine-quilted, traditional and modern quilts, wall hangings, home decorating and accessories and more. The motorcoach will then transport us to the festival grounds, or those who wish can walk the two blocks, for free time to shop the arts and crafts vendors in the craft building and outside shelters, visit the Country Store and buy maple products and souvenirs to take home with you, stop by the Sugar Shack to catch a demonstration, take a guided tour of Historic Meyers Homestead (a.k.a. Maple Manor), enjoy local craft beers, wines and distilled liquors at the Sit & Sip Garden (MUST be 21 or older and an additional fee of $10 per person to enter the event does apply), or enjoy the local, live entertainment on the event stage. **Please Note: Some of the festival activities are outdoors, so please dress appropriately for weather conditions. For the antique auto enthusiasts, there is an Antique Auto Show that you may choose to walk to in the downtown at your leisure. At the conclusion of our time at the festival, we will board the motorcoach and make our way back home but not before we stop at Bedford Candies. Founded in 1929, Bedford Candies has grown from a three-generation, family business to a thriving business that outgrew its space, but still maintains classic family recipes and high-quality products. From the time that the door opens, you can smell their sweet success. Enjoy a few samples and purchase some of their sweet treats to share with your favorite sweetheart! Afterwards, we will depart for home with a fast-food meal stop at your expense along the way.
