Day 1

A fast-food rest stop will be made en route to New York City. Our first stop will be at One World Trade Observatory, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. Ascend to the top in less than 60 seconds for a 360-degree view of New York City and an experience like no other. You are first greeted in the Global Welcome Center featuring a dynamically generated world map highlighting the hometown of visitors. Then, experience a program titled "Voices," which tells the personal stories of the men and women who built One World Trade Center, then "Foundations" provides a close-up view of the very bedrock on which the building stands. Don't miss the two-minute video presentation that brings New York City to dramatic life in three dimensions, and the Main Observatory on the 100th floor to get a 360-degree view of the city and beyond. After time to explore the observatory, you have time to have lunch on your own at One World Observatory offering three distinct dining options on the 101st floor. Then, we will travel a few blocks to the 9/11 Memorial Museum, (all visitors are subject to a security screening). You are on your own to tour the Memorial Museum, as well as the Memorial. The artifacts on display in the museum document the events surrounding the 9/11 attack, while presenting personal stories of loss, acts of compassion, and remarkable recovery that are vital in telling the story of the attacks and the aftermath. The museum’s 110,000 square feet of exhibition space rests in the archaeological heart of the World Trade Center and houses a collection of monumental and authentic artifacts, multimedia displays, archives and narratives that take you back to those tragic attacks by terrorists on American soil and gives you the opportunity to become more familiar with the men, women, and children who died. Located within walking distance to the 9/11 Memorial Museum is St. Paul’s Chapel. For more than eight months following the devastating attacks, St. Paul’s doors remained open as a relief site for emergency workers in order to provide food, respite and sanctuary. On September 11, the church yard was filled with debris, but not a pane of glass was broken nor a headstone damaged. As time permits, you may wish to visit the chapel on your own before departing New York City.
