DAY 3

A full breakfast is included at the hotel before departing for a tour of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre and Quebec City. We will stop at Montmorency Falls, which is 1.5 times higher than Niagara Falls and was the first to be used for hydro-electricity in Quebec. Next, we visit Albert Giles Copper Art Boutique and Museum. Marvel at breathtaking decorative art pieces of embossed and enameled copper. Albert Giles is the creator of the doors to the Bascilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre. Marie’s Bread Oven is our next stop and a delight for the senses. Now a fourth generation French-Canadian business, it is located in a stone dwelling dating back to 1652. You can sample the fresh baked bread with maple butter. Afterwards, we will depart for the Woodcarvers Museum, where one of the workshop animators will introduce you to the Quebec legends depicted in a 22-foot long carved memorial. Then, we are off to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre Shrine, a major Catholic shrine and place of healing that attracts more than a million pilgrims per year. The first chapel was built on this site by early settlers in 1658 to house a miraculous statue of Saint Anne, mother of Mary. Lunch is on your own today, followed by your local guide leading you on a narrated driving tour of Quebec City. This tour includes viewing the Plains of Abraham, and the Citadelle, the narrowest street in North America. The Plains of Abraham is the site of a confrontation between the French and British Empires (1759-1760) and later transformed into a park in 1908. The Citadelle of Quebec is a military installation and official residence of both the Monarch of Canada and the Governor General of Canada located atop Cap Diamant, adjoining the Plains of Abraham in Quebec City. After the tour, we will return to the hotel for dinner on your own with the remainder of the evening to do as you please.
