Day 1

Take a trip back in time with your step-on guide to the late 1800’s, the Victorian Era, when the lumber barons in Williamsport, PA, had built their homes along Millionaire’s Row. We will make a 10 a.m. stop along the way at Wegman’s for a rest break and time to purchase breakfast on your own. Williamsport was a thriving mecca of industry and beauty due mostly to men who built the city with hard work and a drive to succeed. Williamsport gained its reputation as the city of millionaires for the wealthy lumber barons who built their mansions along West Fourth Street known today as “Millionaires Row.” Enjoy a tour of the Rowley House built in 1888; it is a masterpiece of Victorian architecture. Next, you will visit the Peter Herdic House for a tour and lunch. Built in 1854, the Herdic House is a fine example of Italian Villa architecture, featuring ornate plaster moldings and arches and a mahogany stairway that curves three floors to a cupola. After a delicious lunch featuring chicken champagne with a salad, side and beverage, you will board the Hiawatha Riverboat for a light-hearted, entertaining cruise down the Susquehanna River. This one-hour narrated cruise will both entertain you with spirited music and educate you about how the Susquehanna River was an integral transportation corridor for shipping materials. While on board, enjoy an ice cream social complete with a sundae bar to create your own tasty work of art. We will depart for home with a fast food dinner stop en route.
