Day 2

Awake to a gourmet breakfast basket delivered to your room with milk, juice, muffins, jams, fruit, and the coffee makers are already in your room. Enjoy breakfast at your leisure in the room as you dress for the day. This morning you will have some free time to enjoy the resort or walk a half-mile to visit the shops in Ogunquit village. Next board your coach and make your way to Freeport, ME, located just north of Portland. On the way you'll stop to see "Lenny" a 1,700-poundlife-size chocolate moose. Since "Lenny" is too large to fit on the bus, perhaps you will want to purchase some chocolate in the shape of lobster pops, moose (small versions) or chocolate lighthouses to take home or to enjoy in your room later during the week. Enjoy Freeport, home of L.L. Bean and numerous outlet and souvenir shops and restaurants. Lunch is on your own in town. Next on the itinerary is travel by coach to Bath, Maine where you'll tour the Maine Maritime Museum. Located on the banks of the Kennebec River, the museum depicts Maine's shipbuilding industry from the 1600's to present day as well as an exhibit on the lobstering industry in Maine. Travel from Bath to Boothbay Harbor, ME where you will have some free time to explore the village before enjoying a dinner arranged for the group at a local favorite restaurant. After dinner, you will be transported to Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens to see Gardens Aglow, the biggest and brightest light display this side of Piscataqua River. Over 350,000 LED lights will decorate the central gardens and buildings. Of course you may wish to visit the Gardens gift shop for some holiday shopping before boarding your coach for return to Meadowmere Resort for overnight.

Day 3

Breakfast will be included this morning before starting off our day. Today will be featuring Maine's south coast hub Kennebunkport. You will drive past the sandy beaches and rocky coastline, past the George Bush estate at Walker's Point, hear the history of these shipbuilding towns and the legend of the Wedding Cake House. Lunch and dinner will be on your own today at Dock Square in Kennebunkport. This neighborhood nestled in the center of town bustles with boutique shops, art galleries and numerous cafes and eateries sure to please your appetite and budget. We will re-group after lunch and visit the Seashore Trolley Museum to not only learn how they perform the restoration work, but also enjoy a ride on one of their restored streetcars. Then spend the rest of your afternoon in Kennebunkport exploring the shops and boutiques as well as entertainers and carolers strolling the charming village dressed the old-fashioned way for the holidays. Then be a part of the 36th Annual Christmas Prelude in Kennebunkport which begins at 5:30 p.m. with the Tree Lighting ceremony in Dock Square. Join in the Christmas caroling with musical entertainment. Afterwards gather in the municipal parking lot or huddle on the causeway and surroundimg area to view the annual Prelude fireworks display, a historic and memorable tradition of a real New England Christmas.

Day 4

Once again, enjoy your gourmet breakfast basket before boarding the coach and meeting your local guide for a narrated tour of Maine's largest city-by-the-sea … Portland. You'll see views of Longfellow's boyhood home, sea captain houses and the elegant Victoria Mansion as you drive through the historic neighborhoods overlooking the islands of Casco Bay in Portland Harbor. The tour will include a stop at Portland Head Lighthouse, the most photographed lighthouse in America. Lunch is on your own today in Portland's historic waterfront district, the Old Port Exchange. The Old Port area has been restored to 19th century splendor, with cobbled streets and beautiful Victorian brick buildings housing an eclectic mix of restaurants, microbreweries, art galleries and specialty shops. This afternoon you will tour Victoria Mansion, an impressive and historic Italianate villa, built in 1858. The elegant furnishings and unique décor help tell the success story of a Maine man who made his fortune in the South and returned each summer to live in downtown Portland. See the mansion decked out in all its holiday finery. Return to the resort to freshen up before dinner in a Victorian style home. Then it is off to Portland Stage Company for a professional theater performance of It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play adapted by Joe Landry. This beautifully restored theater in downtown Portland is the perfect backdrop for this classic performance. Overnight at Meadowmere Resort.
